Day 1          Wednesday 22 December 2021
HOME CITIES KARIOTAHI BEACH          (D)
Departing from Hamilton this morning, our first stop will be the Awhitu Peninsula. Discover a hidden gem full of history, character and natural beauty. Awhitu Peninsula is only an hour and a half from Hamilton, but its vast panoramas across wild, black-sand beaches and coastal cliff-top roads make it a true escape. Our travels take us out to walk to the historical Manukau Heads Lighthouse, jutting out from the tip of the peninsula. We then backtrack to Waiuku, where you will have time to purchase lunch (own cost for lunch). From Waiuku we travel to Kariotahi Beach. The beautiful and remote West Coast location of Karioitahi Beach offers a true sense of escape. It’s wild coastline and stunning sunsets will simply take your breath away. Our accommodation tonight is at Castaways Resort, with beautiful panoramic views over Kariotahi Beach. There will be ample time here to enjoy the resort facilities including the Bersantai Day Spa (own cost for treatments, please ask the office if you would like to prebook any spa treatments), the onsite restaurant and bar, or simply enjoy the magnificent views of the beach from your room. Dinner tonight will be from the hotel restaurant.
Please note that a mixture of room types are being utilised including two bedroom chalets. Please advise at the time of booking if you have accessibility requirements.

After lunch, we visit the Sculptureum, where we will discover an exquisite collection of art galleries, gardens, and sculptures executed to world-class standard. The sculpture gardens are spread over three gardens and six art galleries, with 1.5km of flat path and surprises around every corner. You’ll see beautifully crafted sculptures, prehistoric rocks, live animals and reflective quotes surrounded by lush plants. Day 3           Friday 24 December 2021
WHANGAREI – PAIHIA          (BLD)
Departing the hotel this morning, our first stop is the AH Reed Kauri Park.  Maturing kauri trees known to be at least 500 years old can be easily viewed close up from the raised walkway through the forest canopy.  There will be time here for you to complete the 30-minute loop walk.  Afterwards travel out to view the Whangarei Falls, a picturesque waterfall that falls 26 metres over basalt cliffs. Lunch today will be included at a local café in Tutukaka. We have a leisurely afternoon exploring the Tutukaka Coast and Matapouri Bay area.   Matapouri Bay is well known for a spectacular white sand beach. The Tutukaka Coast has been rated as one of the top coastal destinations on the planet by 'National Geographic Traveler'. We then travel up to Paihia where we will stay for the next three nights. Tonight we will gather together on Christmas Eve and enjoy dinner at Charlotte’s Kitchen, located on the Paihia waterfront.

Day 4           Saturday 25 December 2021
PAIHIA           (BLD)
Merry Christmas!
After a leisurely breakfast this morning, and time to enjoy the resort facilities, we travel to Zane Gray’s Restaurant & Bar, we will be treated to a scrumptious Christmas Day Lunch.  The restaurant is perfectly situated on Paihia’s waterfront, so you can sit back and enjoy lunch while taking in the beautiful water views. After lunch you will have some time to wander around Paihia before we return to the hotel. Tonight we will have a light dinner at the hotel.

Day 5          Sunday 26 December 2021
BAY OF ISLANDS          (BLD)
Today we enjoy a full day cruising around the waters of the Bay of Islands on the tall ship the R Tucker Thompson. This is a traditional gaff rigged schooner, which combines the safety and comfort of a modern vessel with the unique character and charm of schooners of 150 years ago. We will have a relaxing day sailing with the friendly crew. There will be opportunities available to help sail the vessel, swing from the yardarm and ride the bowsprit if you wish. A delicious barbecue lunch will be served at anchor in a sheltered cove. There are plenty of chances to sunbathe and swim in the sea, so remember to bring your togs if you wish to swim. Tonight we will enjoy a farewell dinner at the hotel.

Day 6          Monday 27 December 2021
PAIHIA – HOME CITIES         (B)
Today we commence our journey back to Hamilton. We travel on the road less travelled via Kumeu, a town which offers a refreshing blend of boutique wineries, orchards and rolling green farmland. We will stop here for you to purchase your lunch and browse their variety of boutique shops. Departing Kumeu, we travel along the South Western Motorway and through the Waterview Tunnel (touted as the biggest change to Auckland's roading network since the opening of the Harbour Bridge in 1959) before arriving back in Hamilton.
