You will see that we have now listed pick up times for all our day trips. Please remember to be at the departure point 10 minutes prior to the departure time. Please advise the office at the time of booking where you will be meeting the coach. 

Saturday 25 September 2021 – Marokopa Falls & Mangapohue Natural Bridge

The Waitomo and King Country region is a magical place. Sculptured limestone outcrops, gorges and natural bridges emerge through lush, green native forest, while underground, a world of ancient limestone formations and cave networks are home to glowworms, subterranean rivers and waterfalls. We will stop in Otorohanga for a morning cuppa and to have a walk through the Sir Edmund Hillary Walk. There will also be time to purchase your lunch to be eaten later in the day. We continue travelling to the Marokopa Falls – the third largest waterfall in New Zealand – and a truly amazing sight. We then backtrack towards Waitomo, stopping in at the magnificent Mangapohoe Natural Bridge – a natural formation that has taken centuries to form.  Here we enjoy a 10-minute walk to the bridge. We then travel back to Hamilton.  Please note that the path to Marokopa Falls is gravel and is uneven in places.

Wednesday 29 September 2021 – Awhitu Peninsula

Discover a hidden gem full of history, character and natural beauty.  Awhitu Peninsula is only an hour and a half from Hamilton, but its vast panoramas across wild, black-sand beaches and coastal cliff-top roads make it a true escape. Our trip takes us to the historical Manukau Heads Lighthouse, jutting out from the tip of the peninsula. The lighthouse is one of only a few in New Zealand that are open to the public. We then return to Waiuku for lunch at the Franklin Club in Pukekohe.

Friday 08 October 2021 – Paradise Valley Wildlife Park

Here’s a school holiday treat for the grandparents and grandchildren. Today we travel to Rotorua to visit Paradise Valley Springs Wildlife Park, set amongst beautifully maintained New Zealand native bush and offering easy walking along flat accessible walkways. Visit the Kea, New Zealand’s infamous alpine parrot; stroll through the waterbird wetland for great views of native and introduced waterfowl, and look out for the different native birds living wild around the park. Pat and feed the very sociable farm animals (own cost for animal feed). While here, we’ll get to see a pride of African lions that can be seen in an enclosure,  allowing us to get very close to these wild animals. We’ll also be here for the lion pride feeding at 2.30pm, followed by the kea and possum feeding at 3pm. Please bring a packed lunch with you today.

Wednesday 20 October 2021 – Moutohorā/Whale Island

An early start this morning as we travel to Whakatane for a 4-hour guided tour of Moutohorā/Whale Island. The island is a pest-free oasis that is home to a number of New Zealand’s rare and endangered plants, birds and reptiles. Our experience starts with a 15-minute boat journey to Moutoharā/Whale Island aboard a comfortable catamaran. We are guided around the island and will visit a kekno/NZ fur seal colony, view the abundant birdlife on the island including tūturiwhatu/New Zealand dotterel, tīeke/North Island saddleback, kākāriki/red-crowned parakeet, tui and bellbirds. A moderate level of fitness, agility and stability is required on this tour. The landing involves disembarking down a short ladder at the front of the boat directly on to the shore, whilst one aspect of the bushwalk includes a steady incline. Please remember to bring a packed lunch (no fresh fruit, vegetables or seeds allowed due to pest free status), a water bottle, sun protection and sturdy walking shoes today.

Thursday 28 October 2021 – Te Puke Day Out

Our travels today will take us to the kiwifruit capital of the world, Te Puke. As we drive in to Te Puke, be sure to keep an eye out for the giant kiwifruit statues. There will be time to explore the local shops in Te Puke. For those looking to get into the early Christmas spirit, there is a fantastic shop you simply must check out. At Christmas Magic Makers, the shop has a Bavarian Village Town Square setting and every alcove is themed e.g. a Nutcracker alcove, a Santa alcove, a Lemax display that stands 8 feet high on three levels, scores of santas and elves and so much more! It is a visual extravaganza and must be seen to be believed! There will be plenty of time for you to purchase lunch from one of the local cafes.

Thursday 04 November 2021 – NZ Sculpture Onshore

We travel to Devonport today for the NZ Sculpture OnShore event, New Zealand’s largest outdoor sculpture exhibition, and one of the oldest. This iconic North Shore event will once again take place in Devonport, Auckland at the historic O Peretu Fort Takapuna site. This stunning clifftop park with the backdrop of Rangitoto Island and the Hauraki Gulf lends itself perfectly to the staging of the country’s largest exhibition of contemporary sculpture. The exhibition, which features work from established and emerging artists, provides a unique snapshot of contemporary three dimensional art practice in New Zealand. This includes monumental stand-alone sculptures, domestic and small-scaled works, ephemeral projects, light and sound art works, process art and many site-specific installations. There is a café on site for you to purchase lunch or feel free to bring your own. Please bring comfortable walking shoes today.

Tuesday 16 November 2021 – Auckland Botanic Gardens

Today we travel to Auckland to visit the Auckland Botanic Gardens. Here we enjoy an hour-long guided tour of the seasonal highlights of the Gardens. After our tour, there will be further time to explore the gardens at your own pace. The various collections including African plants, camellias, magnolias, roses, perennials, herbs, salvias, edibles and palms mean there is something in flower all year round. We will stop somewhere for you to purchase lunch before commencing our trip home to Hamilton. Please note that a reasonable level of mobility is required for this walking tour. Please bring comfortable walking shoes and a water bottle today.

Wednesday 01 December 2021 – Villa Walton Gardens

Today we travel to Villa Walton, set in the quiet historic village of Walton in Matamata. The original homestead was known in the area for the beautiful cottage gardens and specimen trees.  There are some examples of a hundred plus year old Kauri, Copper Beech, Rimu, Totara and magnificent magnolia trees which the Tui love to visit. The garden blooms each season with an array of different trees, bulbs and shrubs. Our lovely hosts will take us on a tour around the garden and through the villa, and we’ll enjoy a delicious morning tea. After our visit, we travel into Matamata for you to purchase lunch before travelling back to Hamilton.

Saturday 11 December 2021 – Christmas Lunch

Don’t miss out on our annual Christmas Lunch! If you like, feel free to invite your friends and family to join us too – the more the merrier! Our Christmas Lunch will be held at St Andrews Golf Club where there is plenty of parking. As per usual there will be a raffle table – any donations towards this would be hugely appreciated.  Arrive at the venue by 12.00pm for a 12.30pm meal. Please note you will need to make your own way to the venue.
