Many of the houses that we visit are seldom open to the public, so it is a rare opportunity to view these. The properties we visit were built in the 1870 – 1914 period and have survived in rural New Zealand where their urban counterparts have not fared so well. They were built by nationally known architects such as Chapman-Taylor, Gummer, Natusch, and Tringham to name a few. We retrace our steps back to Napier in the late afternoon. Tonight we dine at a local restaurant.
