Friday 24 – Monday 27 February 2023 (4 Days)

Travel through small towns and stunning countryside to reach Masterton for the biennial Wings over Wairarapa showcase. Full of thrills and excitement, experience a wide range of aviation masterpieces with ground displays and a spectacular flying programme.

Day 1              Friday 24 February 2023
Heading south through the rolling hills of the Waikato and beyond we make our way to Masterton, our destination for the duration of our tour. Along the way we enjoy a stop in Taupo for some morning tea before traveling down the Desert Road to reach Waiouru for lunch (own cost). Continuing on our route, we pass through the Manawatu townships of Woodville, Mangatainoka, home of the Tui Brewery, and Eketahuna. We have secured prime accommodation for the duration of the Wings over Wairarapa air show, only five minutes from all the action. Tonight we enjoy a welcome dinner at the hotel to get to know our fellow travellers.
Accommodation: Copthorne Hotel & Resort Solway Park, Masterton – 3 nights

Day 2              Saturday 25 February 2023
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast this morning before we take the short drive to Hood Aerodrome, where our event is being held. The 2023 show will feature some of the world's rarest vintage aircraft from the last century including original WWI aircraft alongside some classics from WWII. While these historic aircrafts are always crowd favourites, there will also be incredible displays of contemporary aircrafts along with a glimpse of the future of aviation. In addition to the spectacular flying programme, there will be fantastic ground displays and activities. At the conclusion of the air show, we will head back to the accommodation to enjoy dinner.

Day 3              Sunday 26 February 2023
Heading back over to the Hood Aerodrome this morning after breakfast, you have another chance to check out all the displays that are on offer for the event. Make sure that you grab a good position for the show’s outstanding finale, closing the Wings over Wairarapa event for 2023. Tonight we enjoy a farewell dinner at the hotel, a chance to share your favourite moments from the last two days.

Day 4              Monday 27 February 2023
Instead of retracing our steps, we travel via the Hawke’s Bay through small farming towns including Waipukerau and Waipawa to reach Napier. We enjoy a lunch break (own cost) in this Art Deco seaside city with time to explore the shops before heading off to our home destinations.
